Trump’s History of Racism

Trump was elected president in 2017 and since then people started to notice the racist comments he would make on social media, in his speeches, and in his interviews. He hasn’t had such a good reputation ever since these events because citizens did not want an immature president to be running the country. Trump is a racist because of the stereotypical comments he’s made towards Mexicans and African Americans, and what he has said toward Asians ever since the pandemic started; Others believe that Trump is not racist because he claims to like every race such as Mexicans, but evidence shows otherwise.

            Trump is a racist because of the stereotypical comment he’s made towards Mexicans. Ever since trump was elected president, he’s been proud of what he says and does as if he has no regrets in what he says. In a speech Trump says, “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing problems with us” (Phillips). By they Trump means Mexicans. He shows by saying this that he thinks that Mexicans can’t be professional, and they are burden because they can’t be good. It seems that he thinks little of Mexicans and has provided a single story by labeling them in one category which leads to people having an opinion on them. “And I will have Mexico pay for that wall” (Philips). If he claims to like all races, why does he have to build a wall around the U.S. to block off people from coming in? Yes, to keep the U.S. safe but it’s saying that he’s not inviting if he’s keeping people out. Which basically shows that he doesn’t like them because he based of Mexicans in one category, rapists, lazy, and so on.

Trump is a racist because of the stereotypical comment he’s made towards African Americans. Trump was staying at a Hotel in Atlantic City. During his stay he went to a casino and said “Black guys counting my money! I hate it…I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks” (German). I don’t have to explain much everything is said clearly from him. He was being racist because he associated black people with laziness calling it a trait is just wrong and its most obviously racist to say. In 2019 trump tweeted something towards some people of color in congress. He said, “from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe. Should go back to those countries” (German). This is obviously showing how racist he is, and it was recently. Because of this comment those people that were mentioned were targets to some of the people that supported him because his supporters are just like him trying to do what the president think is right.

Trump is a racist because of what he’s said towards Asians ever since the pandemic started. When the pandemic started, people were panicking and didn’t know what was going on. People started to notice that COVID-19 came from china which is why they associated that with Asians Americans. Trump would call it the “China Virus” and ever since then Hate crimes towards Asians raised up a lot. “On the night several Asian women were shot dead in Atlanta, he referred to COVID-19 as the “China Virus” on Fox News” (Mishal). It was really shocking to people when hearing this from former president Trump. It seemed to people that he had no empathy towards these Asian American women who were killed quite possibly because of COVID-19. It was wrong of him to associate Asians and the virus together. It’s obvious that what he says influence his supporter’s actions. “A Singaporean student in London was assaulted after he reacted to passers-by who were making comments about his race and the deadly coronavirus outbreak” (scmp). He gave a single story for Asian Americans and labeling them as “China Virus”. President Trump did not do anything about it which is why the people had to step up and make a protest saying Asians Lives Matter.

            Others believe that Trump is not a racist because he claims to like every race such as Mexicans, but evidence shows otherwise. In a speech of his he was talking about us Mexicans and how he’s placed us on one category. He claims to like us Mexicans, “And some, I assume are good people” (Phillips). This is not a clear explanation that he isn’t racist. There’s way more evidence to show that he is, and he was lying. He claims that us Mexicans insults. But therefore, he is wrong and whoever thinks the same way has he does. A family of four was in the U.S. and were fleeing after an incident with a gang happened which led to giving them a reason to flee the U.S.” Monterreso explained that in October, their family was forced to flee after a gang threatened to murder the children if they didn’t pay an exorbitant bribe, five months’ worth.” (Sweetland Edwards). These are reasons on why people like immigrants and Mexicans move to the U.S. for a better life. Not to take away anything like jobs or be lazy and bring problems. They want better for themselves and their family. These assumptions are just not true if only people would hear immigrants out instead of listening to a white supremacist.

Trump is a racist because of the stereotypical comments he’s made towards Mexicans and African Americans, and what he has said towards Asians when the pandemic started. Trump is a white supremacist, so he believes his race is the only race with power and the rest aren’t. Why should citizens of the United States take the word of a man who provided a lot of single stories? They should start becoming less ignorant and hear people out instead of jumping into conclusions, and that goes for everyone.
